She was born in Çiçekpınar, Isparta, as the eldest daughter of a farming family. After completing her education at Isparta Girls' Teacher Training School and Ankara Higher Teacher Training School, she graduated from Ege University Faculty of Chemistry as a chemist in 1979. She completed her master's and doctorate degrees at EÜ Institute of Science and Technology in 1993 and her master's degree in Health Tourism at ADÜ Institute of Health Sciences in 2021. After 7 years of academic work at EÜ Food Engineering and Hydrobiology Institute, he retired from Kuşadası Municipality, where he started by establishing the Environmental Health Unit in 1992, as Deputy Mayor in 2019. He is currently the manager of Hadrianus Boutique Hotel, which belongs to his family, located in Antalya Kaleiçi. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Günbey Şerifoğlu is a social entrepreneur who aims to protect natural, cultural and environmental values throughout her life, aims for sustainability in environment, tourism and agriculture, and believes in public-local-civil-private partnership. During his tenure at Kuşadası Municipality, the projects in which he took part included the realisation of the "Kuşadası Regional Solid Waste Management Project", which was carried out by the Union of Kuş-Atak Municipalities with a grant of .1 from the EU to solve the environmental problems of the region between 2005 and 2012, and the feasibility and EIA studies of the EU-funded Regional Integrated Water and Wastewater Projects, which will bring solutions to the water and wastewater problems of all member municipalities, were completed. In co-operation with the Turkish Environmental Education Foundation, Blue Flag activities on Kuşadası's natural heritage beaches were initiated in 2001, and Kuşadası Municipality still maintains the title of the municipality that has received the most awards for the best environmental education activities within the scope of Blue Flag activities. Restoration and Renovation of 12 Streets in the Historic Kaleiçi Region and Çalıkuşu Culture House, which received awards in the Historic Cities Association Conservation Competition with the slogan "Kuşadası Regains Its Natural and Cultural Identity" in cooperation with ÇEKÜL Foundation, organisation of Kuşadası symposiums from Past to Future, establishment of Local Agenda 21, City Council and Women's Assemblies in cooperation with Habitat Association, restoration of the YG 21 house, It is involved in many social and cultural activities such as the initiation of Kuşadası Station works, the reconstruction of the whale Ayışığın exhibited in Güvercinada Maritime Museum, the excavations of Kuşadası Historical Heritage Kadı Castle, the initiation of Sister City relations for the development and diversification of tourism, International Art Workshops, Environmental Films and Olive Festival, He is the coordinator of the "Historic Kuşadası Port and Cultural Routes Project", which includes the restoration of the Aegean Cuisine and Turkish Coffee House with the support of GEKA, the EU-funded "Kuşadası-Sinaia Sister Cities Strengthening Project with a Participatory Approach in the Field of Sustainable Tourism", and the establishment of Kuşadası Municipality Microminiature Museum. She personally completed the establishment of Kuşadası Kuşakk Women's Cooperative and coordinates the "Creative Handicrafts Project from Generation to Generation" supported by GEKA. In 2020, she founded the Women's Initiative in Agriculture Production and Business Cooperative with 13 entrepreneur women from different provinces in order to keep Anatolia's agricultural heritage alive and support women producers with women who met within the framework of KAGİDER's Agriculture Camp training programme. In 2024, the project "Women's Empowerment and Solidarity of Cooperatives in the Goal of Gender Equality" was completed within the scope of the Project for Strengthening the Networking Capacities of Women's Cooperatives in Turkey, supported by the EU Delegation to Turkey and implemented by KEDV in partnership with Simurg. Turkey Environmental Education Foundation, Habitat Association, Kuşadası Education Development Foundation, Simurg Women's Cooperatives Union Board Memberships and ÇEKÜL Foundation Kuşadası Representative, TOBB-KUTO Kuşadası Women Entrepreneurs Board, TÜÇEM, TKB, EKODOSD, Chemists Association memberships and many social responsibility projects and NGOs as a volunteer. Dr Ayşe Günbey Şerifoğlu, who is married, mother of two children, has over 35 scientific articles published in various symposiums and journals, 6 works edited by her, and she speaks English and French.
