Prof.Dr. Filiz ABACIGIL is a faculty member at Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Public Health. Her main areas of interest are epidemiology, biostatistics, health research, health literacy, disadvantaged groups (disabled people), disaster and emergency situations and reproductive health. She has been a trainer in many Basic Education Skills and Health Research Courses organised within the University. She has taken part in various international projects, including three European Union projects, one International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), and one United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) project. She has been the Executive Director of the Barrier-Free Society Working Group of the Association of Public Health Specialists, a member of the Gender Working Group, and a member of the Health Promotion and Health Literacy Working Group. She participated in the Turkey Health Literacy Scales Validity and Reliability study carried out by the General Directorate of Health Promotion of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey, and in the establishment of a women and reproductive health service unit in the earthquake zone. In addition, he is the Deputy Director of Roma Application and Research Centre, member of the board of directors of Disaster and Emergency Application and Research Centre, and Chairman of the Faculty of Medicine Self-Evaluation Board. He has 94 national/international original articles and 17 books/book chapters.
