Önay Alpago He was born in Karadeniz Ereğlisi, Zonguldak. In 1969, he graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law. Önay Alpago started his political career in SHP and served as the SHP Karadeniz Ereğlisi District Chairman. Alpago, who was elected as a member of the Party Assembly and MYK and also served as SHP deputy chairman, was appointed as the Minister of State in charge of Women, Family and Social Services. Between July 1994 and 27 March 1995, he served as Minister of State for Women, Family and Social Services. In 2008, Önay Alpago was elected as a member of the CHP Party Assembly and remained in this position until 2010. On 18 December 2010, at the CHP congress, he was re-elected as a member of the Party Assembly from the quota of the Science, Management and Culture Platform. He was also elected by the Istanbul Bar Association as a delegate to the Union of Turkish Bar Associations at the end of 2010. Önay Alpago is married to Dr Yıldırım Alpago and has two children. Önay Alpago teaches Revolutionary History at Yeditepe University Faculty of Law and various universities as a lecturer and works as a freelance lawyer affiliated to the Istanbul Bar Association. He is a member of many associations and non-governmental organisations. She has been a speaker in many panels, symposiums and similar events on topics such as "Democracy", "Law", "Women's Rights", "Labour Problems", "Secularism", "Gender Equality" and her papers have been published.
