Dr Solmaz Ghanbari Homaie It is our distinct pleasure to welcome Dr Solmaz Ghanbari Homaie, Assistant Professor of Midwifery at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Dr Ghanbari Homaie currently serves as Dean of Education & Research Deputy at Taleghani Hospital, Head of the Clinical Research Development Unit, and is a member of the Board of Midwifery and Reproductive Health at the Iranian Ministry of Health. In 2019, she made history as the very first PhD graduate in Midwifery in Iran and has since been recognised with prestigious honours, including the 2023 Motahari National Award for Excellence in Medical Education (Technology Section), the 2020 National Outstanding Researcher Award, and the Professor Shahriyari Award. Dr Ghanbari Homaie is an internationally recognised expert in women's childbirth experiences and perinatal mental health. She has led numerous groundbreaking studies on the relationship between birth experience and postpartum mental health outcomes, predictors of postpartum depression, obstetric violence, fear of childbirth, and the long-term psychological effects of epidural analgesia and traumatic birth. With more than 50 peer-reviewed publications in high- impact journals such as BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, Reproductive Health, and Scientific Reports, she also serves as Guest Editor for BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth's special collection on "Interaction of Birth Outcomes and Postpartum Mental Health" and is a valued reviewer for several leading journals in the field. Today, Dr Ghanbari Homaie will deliver her keynote address entitled "Mental Health After Motherhood: Redefining Support for Pregnant Women in a Changing World." Drawing on her extensive clinical and research experience with thousands of Iranian mothers, she will explore how modern childbirth practices, cultural shifts, and emerging psychological challenges are reshaping perinatal mental health, and present evidence-based, practical strategies to redesign supportive care for women and families worldwide.
